Reading is Important!

Promoting the joys of and importance of Reading is one of the goals of the programming of  'Pockets Full of Fun'.  With that in mind Lisa writes a new program each year which correlates with the theme for the Summer Reading Program. Her new program for summer 2010 is called 'Make A Splash!'. Lisa's friends from Pockets Full of Fun seem to be a bit confused about what it all means! Join Lisa as she tries to explain some of the wonders of the Sea, helps them understand how to protect the water home of the sea creatures and just have FUN! Theo is ready to teach you a Rap about the sea as well!

"Chickens and Cows and Goats - Oh My!" is the name of the program Lisa has written to promote her two children's books but also to encourage children to try writing stories themselves.  Lisa will be happy to make book sales available after the show and the libraries or schools who book this show will receive a copy of each book for their library.  Lisa will also be happy to schedule a writers workshop after the show for children interested in starting their own books.

"Lisa performed a wonderful show at our branch library during Children's Book Week. I really appreciated how she encouraged the kids to read throughout the program, even using the phrase "Get Ready to Read" as magic words. She and her puppets walked around the library beforehand encouraging the kids to come to the program. The puppet voices were delightful. Lisa created a fun atmosphere for our kids."  Matt Couch - Forest Avenue Library    Des Moines, IA

"Lisa does an excellent job holding the children's attention from preschool through fourth grade.  Her passion shines from her as she performs for the children. The craft of the Bug Puppet was a favorite of the children as well."
Sonia Ernst - Sibley Public Library

"Lisa and her 'Pockets full of Fun' were a big hit at the New Virginia Library.  She held the kid's attention for a full 45 minutes and she included a lot of participation from the children. She is worth more than the fee she charges."
Joan Stuart - New Virginia Library
